Lilipot Editor's Review
Lilipot is a free utility that allows you to 'flatten' QuickTime movies. Most of the Macintosh applications won't create QuickTime files that are cross platform compatible with Windows, and they are not Web friendly, so they won't be recognized by the Quick Time plug-in. This simple application 'flattens' the movies in order to fix this issue. This means that the file resource is placed at the beginning of the file.
This kind of activity can be done by using QuickTime Professional. This application is better because is free and it supports batch conversion, which is another major advantage over QuickTime Pro.
The interface of this application is simple. You need to set a path for the output data, and then drag-and-drop the files that you would like to flatten over the application's window.
Don't be surprised, if the dialog window that is used to set the output path is in French. It's the developer's nationality and a minor flaw. All the buttons have the same position as in the English equivalent, so it is pretty intuitive to use it.
The processing time depends on the amount of files that you would like to flatten, and of course, by the size of the files. With the few files that I have used for the testing, the whole process went quite well.
Pluses: it is a free application that can flatten QuickTime movies in the same way QuickTime Pro does. It also has another advantage, the batch-processing mode. The interface is simple and intuitive and the processing works quite fast.
Drawbacks / flaws: it has a minor interface issue, the developer left the dialog where you set the output path in French.
In conclusion: if you would like to have all your QuickTime movies into a format that is compatible with Windows and with the Web streaming, using at the same time a batch processing engine for free, then this program is the solution.
